The Boat you see above is a Ranger 620 with a 3.0 225hp Mercury EFI. This is the high performance engine but it had some serious smoking problems. I had it back to the Ranger Dealer and they insisted that the excess smoke was normal. I was not happy to say the least. This thing smoked so bad that I had a guy run up to me with a fire extinguisher to see if I needed help , I replied that’s just what this motor does . Then I learned about Amsoil 2 cycle ( Amsoil HPI oil ),WOW!!! What a difference. The engine sounds smoother and now has only a vary small amount of smoke at first start up – try this yourself it is unbelievable. Nobody comes running with a fire extinguisher when I start it now.
